Mariah and Nick Cannon

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Top-selling recording artist Mariah Carey and popular rap singer and actor Nick Cannon married this week in the Bahamas, according to several media reports.

The New York Post said on Thursday the pair wed in a secret ceremony in front of family and friends at Carey's house in Eleuthera, citing a source close to Carey.

Latina.com, the Web site for Latina magazine, cited a source near Cannon as saying the nuptials took place on Wednesday, and In Touch Weekly said Cannon had designed a $2.5 million ring he gave to his new bride.

The reports could not be immediately confirmed and representatives for Carey and Cannon did not return e-mails or phone calls for comment.

Carey, 38, recently released the No. 1 single "Touch My Body" off her album "E=MC2," which also debuted on record charts as the best-selling album in mid-April. She has enjoyed tremendous success as a recording artist starting in 1990 with her self-titled debut album.

Cannon, 11 years younger than Carey, has acted on television and in films such as 2002's "Drumline" and "Shall We Dance?" and he made his singing debut with a self-titled album in 2003 and followed up in 2006 with "Stages."

The pair met when Cannon directed a video for her recent single, "Bye, Bye," and have been dating for several weeks, according to reports.

Carey was married previously to record executive Tommy Mottola, but they divorced in 1998. It is Cannon's first marriage.

What we think? Mariah is out of her mind and we're glad she signed a prenup! As for the tattoo on the small of her back saying "Mrs. Cannon" ahhhh it's gonna be a pain when she has to get that removed. Ms Carey is just too good for Nick. Remember when he cheated on Christina Milian? speaking of that .. our next post will be dedicated to Ms Milian =)

Seriously .. WTF is up with Hollywood? Who apologizes for being in VANITY FAIR? Only thing she should be apologizing for is for letting them use such an ugly photograph!! She looked sorta like an alien .. and not the sexy kind from "Dude! Where's My Car!" haha

She shouldn't be apologizing for the "implied nude artistic" shot ... and definitely NOT for having a pic of her chillin in a wifebeater with her bra showing! Actually that's a hotter pic than the Vanity shoot lol I don't understand how photographer Annie Leibowitz thought that was a beautiful image. I mean I know photographers usually are very proud of their work but they should also know a bad photo when they see one ... what do you think? Do you like the homemade Miley pic or the professional "artistic" shot?

I mean haven't we all learned from the whole Spears mess? Just leave the girl alone and let her live a little ...
